Spring is almost here!

I'm getting everything ready for the new school year, which starts in April here in Japan. I'm very busy at this time of year, ordering new textbooks, creating a new schedule, doing trial lessons etc...
But this an exciting time of the year, everything feels new and fresh. Spring is almost upon us and we're getting ready for Spring inspired lessons. This week I thought the children could paint their own little plant pots, and plant seeds in them and watch them grow. We did this last as well and we all had a nice time. We can also use many bright colours, greens, blues, pinks, yellows, reds, oranges etc... What are your plans for your Spring time classes? I would love to hear.

How Many? Our entry to the Everybody Up, Global Sing-along by Oxford University Press.

Well, our school decided on the "How Many?" song.

Bye Bye Goodbye (Super Simple Songs Disc 3) Noisy Version

One of my classes doing Super Simple Songs - Bye Bye Goodbye with musical instruments usually we sing this together, but, every now and again we do this song with cymbals, drums, rattles etc... Not much singing happens when the instruments are about but its a really nice ending to the class!

Christmas 2010

Hi everybody and Merry Christmas, last Saturday we had our Christmas party with the kids, it was a lot of fun this year with our good friend Jay from Freedom English coming along to sing some Christmas songs including: We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Silent Night, Jingle Bells and more... Everybody enjoyed them thank you Jay, and of course Santa showed up later, the kids really like that, especially getting presents from Santa!

Autumn / Halloween / Thanksgiving

Autumn or Fall is a beautiful time of year, the colours of the trees and plants change from green to bright reds, oranges, browns and golds.

Halloween and Thanksgiving are in this season.

Here are some of the pictures that the children made in the Creative Play class.

They painted Autumn leaves and Scarecrows. Using finger paints they painted colourful trees, and made Thanksgiving Turkeys and Jack-o'-Lanterns.

Autumn is one of my favourite season, what's yours?

Halloween

Halloween has finished and its almost Christmas, but I thought I would add this Video of one of our classes singing along to Super Simple Songs "Hello My Friends, Happy Halloween".

Creative Play - Last Months Theme - Under the Ocean

In the Creative play class last month we learnt about things under the ocean, fish, octopuses, sea horses, sharks, star fish etc... Every week the kids made a creature from under the sea and put their pictures on the wall...

This month we will be doing an autumn/ fall project, as well as Halloween so this is a great time to learn some colours: orange, greens, browns, reds, yellows etc... I will post the picture at the beginning of December.
